The Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association is proud to honor Professor Sanford M. Jaffe as a "Legend of ADR" in recognition of his exceptional vision as a pathfinder in the field of conflict resolution, and in recognition of his achievements, which have served to promote and advance the development of conflict resolution in New Jersey, and in acknowledgment of his unique leadership and service to the courts, the bar and the residents of the state of New Jersey in the field of conflict resolution.

Welcome to the Web site for the Center for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (CNCR). The Center is part of the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, located at Civic Square, New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Center became formally associated with the School in the Spring of 1993, when the School was launched at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The Center assists the School in carrying out its mission, which is fourfold:

To prepare undergraduate and graduate students for careers in the public and private sectors, teaching and research, and serve at all levels of government, and in nonprofit organization;
To provide a supportive environment for research and innovation that will improve government actions and programs;
To provide service and support to all levels of government in the state of New Jersey and elsewhere; and
To provide agendas and public forums for the discussion of controversial issues.

CNCR devotes time and resources to fostering collaborative, non-adversarial processes for developing public policy, and provides technical assistance to agencies and others to advance collaborative undertakings, particularly regional and statewide efforts that cross traditional political structures and involve groups that perceive themselves as contenders in conflict.

CNCR facilitates and catalyzes interdisciplinary activities, both in research and practice.

CNCR staff facilitate complex public policy and planning collaborations and mediate disputes in these domains.
