- Developed and implemented the Fund, which was created by the Ford Foundation to assess the effects on society of dispute resolution programs

- Developed an instructional and technical assistance program in dispute resolution; coordinated and taught

Adjunct Faculty, Rutgers University Law School, 1988-1993

Director, Dispute Resolution Assistance Center, Institute of Judicial Administration, New York University Law School, 1983-1986:

- Created and directed the Center which worked with governmental entities and organizations that had an interest in improving the ways disputes are managed

Officer in Charge, Government and Law Program, The Ford Foundation, 1968-1983:

- Administered a professional staff and grant program with an annual budget of approximately seven million dollars

Directed the Foundation's program in the following fields: litigation, civil rights, women's rights, public interest law, corrections, the administration of justice with emphasis on broad issues of policy, minority participation in government, government performance and improvement, environmental policy, legal education and dispute resolution

- Worked closely with colleagues in other divisions of the foundation on educational policy issues and international matters

- Conceptualized and implemented the public interest law program and administered grants of twenty-five million dollars in this field

- Developed the Foundation's program in dispute resolution and the National Institute for Dispute Resolution

Executive Director, Governor's Select Commission on Civil Disorders, State of New Jersey, 1967-1968:

- Developed plans for implementing the Governor's charge to the Commission

- Organized and administered a staff of thirty

- Directed a comprehensive investigation of the causes of riots in Newark and Plainfield, and presented recommendations to the Governor and Legislature

Special Assistant to the Attorney General, United States Department of Justice, Washington, D.C., 1965-1967:

- Drafted legislation and worked with Congressional Committees

- Organized and directed educational programs on federal legislative issues for United States Attorneys

- Reviewed and established departmental policy on justice issues, for example, prosecutorial discretion and sentencing

- Undertook special assignments such as the investigation of sensitive cases and the review of wiretapping allegations

Chief, Criminal Division, United States Attorney's Office, District of New Jersey, 1961-1965:

- Responsible for administration of all criminal prosecutions (and a staff of ten professionals)

- Prepared and argued cases at trial and on appeal in the Circuit Court of Appeals (cases prosecuted included many complex matters such as fraud, tax evasion, violations of national security)

Assistant Prosecutor (Director of Appellate Section), Essex County, New Jersey, 1958-1961:

- Handled trials and appeals before the New Jersey Supreme Court

- Directed Grand Jury inquiries on complex cases
