Create A Place is produced by Arts Build Communities, a Rutgers University center that provides expertise on how arts connect economic and community development. Arts Build Communities is at the forefront of a new field focused on improving quality of life and standards of living in communities while building healthier environments for creativity to flourish.

ABC is at the forefront of the new field of creative placemaking.  The National Endowment for the Arts describes this as an approach in which “partners from public, private, nonprofit and community sectors strategically shape the physical and social character of a neighborhood, town, city or region around arts and cultural activities. Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire and be inspired.” (Creative Placemaking, pg. 3)
