The arts can help enhance the quality of life and standards of living in a community. And a community that has a healthy climate for creativity attracts more arts and artists. But until recently, there has been little to guide placemakers about how to build creative communities and economies. Looking at pretty pictures and hearing nice stories can help you learn the “what” and “why,” but not the “how.” That’s the reason for the Master Practitioner Certificate in Creative Placemaking.

As more elected officials see the value of arts for community and economic development, they are looking for qualified expertise. Learners who meet the challenges of the Creative Placemaking Master Practitioner program will develop the skills and knowledge that clients and communities seek.
Creative placemaking is one of the few growing fields in the planning and placemaking professions. This program provides a richer learning experience than you can find in any conference, webinar or short training program.
Successful participants in the program will have acquired knowledge and insights from some of the top experts in this field, learn from colleagues around the country, and practice creative placemaking in a studio class and through guided independent study.
You will also get something no other continuing education program offers –training and development in client and business development skills. You can learn how to better articulate your ideas to garner support from colleagues, clients and communities so you can achieve more of your goals faster.
Planners and placemakers know that the arts help make places more livable and prosperous. But until recently, there has been little to guide placemakers about how to build creative communities and economies. Looking at pretty pictures and hearing nice stories can help you learn the “what” and “why,” but not the “how.” That’s the reason for the Master Practitioner Certificate in Creative Placemaking.
Successful participants will get a Master Practitioner Certificate from the Rutgers University. We will also apply for at least 34 AICP Certification Maintenance credits. We will also have special webconferences on ethics and law so you can get your AICP CM credits in those areas as well..
