NCNBR and Senator Robert Menendez to Host County Meeting

On September 22, Senator Robert Menendez will welcome members of New Jersey county government to a meeting at Rutgers to look ahead at their role in spurring redevelopment and encouraging sustainable strategies in the process. The National Center for Neighborhood and Brownfields Redevelopment and the New Jersey Association of Counties will be co-hosting this session for county freeholders, county improvement authorities and economic development directors.

The topic will address the need to reuse properties that have historic uses as commercial and industrial and which may be eligible for brownfield remediation funding at either the state or federal level. These restored properties produce economic assets in the forms of ratables, add value to adjacent properties and generally improve the appearance and quality of life in their host neighborhoods.

Comment from student in recent class:
"Yet again Rutgers Continuing Education classes deliver! This class has been an informative eye opener for me and I learned many things that I would have never known through this class. By expanding my education to include facets of neighborhood and Brownfield redevelopment I know I have given myself a broader base of knowledge for myself as a planner to work with. Because of this class the opportunity to do so was granted."
