The New Jersey Sustainable State Institute, founded in June 2002, is an independent non-profit institute providing information, analysis, and practical strategies to help New Jersey develop on a sustainable path. The Institute is responsible for updating and setting targets for a group of sustainability indicators for the state, which were developed through a broad stakeholder process in the 1990s. As the Institute grows, it aims to be a key voice in the analysis of technologies and policies to further the sustainability of the state. It is jointly affiliated with the Bloustein School and the York Center for Environmental Engineering and Science at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
