All Hazards Crisis Communication Training for School Bus Drivers

Improving school bus drivers’ ability to communicate effectively with students during emergency events is both a security issue as well as a communication challenge, because children may lack the cognitive capacity to determine how to escape from or respond to a hazard situation. CTSSR is conducting comprehensive research in consultation with bus operators, school boards, emergency response personnel, and child trauma experts that will lead to a course that will complement TSA’s existing transportation operator security awareness curriculum.
