Purpose: R.U. with the Homeless was founded back in the eighties
as a response to the increasingly visible problem of homelessness. The
group's mission is twofold: 1.) community service activities designed to
help alleviate some of the problems caused by homelessness, to help prevent
homelessness in the future and to break down barriers of communication between
students and the homeless as well as other city residents. 2.) political
activities designed to change the structures that cause homelessness, clarify
myths and change attitudes that dehumanize the homeless.
