The Citizen Planner: A History of the New Jersey Federation of Planning Officials

This is the fifty-year story of a unique organization spawned by a handful of dedicated citizens appointed to carry out the mandates of a land-use law through unpaid service on planning and zoning boards of adjustment. The founders of the New Jersey Federation of Plan-fling Officials (the Federation) saw the need at this seminal stage of planning to equip themselves as lay planners with necessary know-how, cooperate with fellow board members throughout the state, and work toward such improvements in the planning process as societal changes and goals of development would inevitably require.
