Wanted and CUPR
Wanted: Solutions for America (Wanted) presents an exciting research opportunity for the Center for Urban Policy Research (CUPR). The focus of Wanted—on building capacity within community-based organizations—builds on CUPR's work for the Ford Foundation on community development partnerships. In addition, the vision of Wanted—that communities have the ability to develop and implement their own solutions to social and economic problems—is in step with CUPR's work on the Rutgers Community Outreach Partnership Center (RCOPC) and Project Community.
Wanted also provides CUPR with the opportunity to investigate community development as it occurs. Researchers will document the strategies and experiences of the 19 sites over two years, and identify how successful community organizations gather resources, forge collaborative relationships, overcome challenges, and discover innovative solutions. CUPR's goal is to do more than simply document successful programs. By analyzing how the Wanted programs have been able to achieve and sustain their success, CUPR will be able to provide much needed insight into the process of building successful community solutions.
