Rodgers Tapped by Obama Administration,
![]() William M. Rodgers III Both the Obama Administration and NBC News have turned to William M. Rodgers III, a Bloustein School professor and chief economist with the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, for his expertise on labor issues.
During the transition to the new administration, Rodgers advised the incoming labor secretary on how the stressed economy was impacting workers. He also conducted internal and external reviews of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a process involving interviews with senior staff members at the agency. Rodgers served as Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Labor from 2000 to 2001. Rodgers met President Obama in 2004 at a panel discussion on globalization.
In addition, Rodgers was a recent panelist on NBC’s Meet the Press, commenting on President Obama’s trip to Europe. CNBC also has called on Rodgers to serve as a regular guest commentator on its Squawk Box panels with former General Electric CEO Jack Welch and others. During the spring, he was interviewed while in Wales about the prospects for green technology.
