The New Jersey Public Policy Research Institute (NJPPRI) was founded in 1977 to identify and analyze public policies that impact the lives of people of color in New Jersey. NJPPRI has helped create policies in such critical areas as education, housing, economic development, criminal justice, employment, and public finance. By publishing reports, convening seminars and conferences, and offering leadership initiatives, NJPPRI has contributed to important public policy discussions in the Garden State. Elected officials, policy makers, advocacy and direct service organizations, media and interested citizens have all benefitted from the objective and expert analysis produced by NJPPRI. Through its work, NJPPRI has increased the capacity of organizations and individuals working for positive change by deepening their understanding of existing or pending public policies.
NJPPRI is commmitted to:
- Developing policy initiatives that positively impact people of color by ensuring that the effect of those policies on communities is recognized and considered in the policy decisionmaking process;
- Promoting diverse and open dialogue on all aspects of policies that impact people of color so that they and the organizations that represent them are empowered to both vote and assert their interests;
- and Assisting in developing knowledgeable, representative leaders who can serve as catalysts for community improvement.
NJPPRI is dedicated to becoming the pre-eminent institute for public policy analysis and leadership development in New Jersey.
