Mission

The New Jersey Public Policy Research Institute’s (NJPPRI) mission is to identify, analyze and disseminate information critical to informed public policy development in and for the African-American community in New Jersey and the region. Since its inception, NJPPRI has established a distinctive record in analyzing policies such as education, housing, tax reform, and many other issues. NJPPRI has called on and employed a variety of means for promoting discussion and policy development, including timely reports, policy conferences, and leadership development. A significant part of our work involves building the capacity of organizations involved in community advancement and development to use information as a catalyst for change.

Values

NJPPRI’s work is informed by the following values and guiding principles:

  • Informed policy making can foster positive outcomes for the African-American community.
  • Diverse and open dialogue on all components of community advancement is central to the positive evolution of African-American political and community life.
  • Building durable, open institutions is crucial to building strong families, neighborhoods and communities in the African-American community.
  • Informed, representative leadership is an important catalyst for community advancement.

Vision

NJPPRI’s vision is to be the preeminent policy analysis and leadership development institution for the African-American community in the State of New Jersey.
