The Professional Development Institute offers a wide variety of programming for planning and public policy. Our programming serves professionals in the field, as well as other individuals who want to influence outcomes in planning and public policy

Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program
The Bloustein Online Continuing Education Program offers high quality, convenient and affordable professional development. All BOCEP courses are online and can be accessed from virtually any computer with an Internet connection. There are no required meetings in BOCEP courses, but there are plenty of opportunities to interact with professionals from around the United States. BOCEP offers 20-30 courses per year in the areas of urban design, economic development and real estate, planning law and related legal issues, community development, as well as sustainable development and smart growth. We offer the widest variety of interactive online courses available on urban planning. More than 400 people - many of them mid and senior-level professionals - have taken BOCEP courses.

The Leading Institute
The Leading Institute provides innovative and effective training, development and consulting in leadership and change management. The cornerstone of The Leading Institute is Leading from the Middle. This is the only program for planning and public affairs professionals that combines six workshops with three months of personal performance coaching and group peer coaching. Another related initiative involving The Leading Institute is the Fund for an Open Society's LeadershipMatters program. This program helps civic leaders and community professionals build sustainable, racially-integrated communities. LeadershipMatters is built from the Leading from the Middle template. Other programming includes workshops in various leadership topics, such as presentation skills, cultural competency and group development. We offer technical assistance in organizational development and leadership, and include these topics in PDI's consultations on economic development and community planning. Through its various programs, The Leading Institute has served more than 500 professionals - ranging from project managers to executive directors.
