Leading from the Middle - Schedule
In 2009, The Leading Institute is offering a number of choices and scheduling options for Leading from the Middle.

Leading from the Middle New Jersey offers six six-hour classes offered on Fridays at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. The classes are from March to July 2009. Learn more about Leading from the Middle New Jersey 2009

All Leading from the Middle programs cover these topics:

Session Focus: Power and Influence

You don't have to be a director to influence—identify and untap your powers to lead. Leran how to mobilize assets within communities and organizations for change.

Session Focus: Strategic Communications

Discover new and better ways to convince and persuade various and diverse audiences. Learn to promote issues and agendas in organizations, communities and the public.

Session Focus: Values-Based Planning and Cost-Effective Evaluation

Learn to achieve success through values-based planning and cost-effective evaluation. Discover how to leverage small successes for large-scale change.

Session Focus: Building and Leading Groups and Partnerships

Three of the keys to the success of group efforts are: picking the right partners, having clear roles for each member, and making meetings productive. Learn to do all three in this session.

Session Focus: Managing Resistance

Conflict is a natural part of group work, growth and change. Learn how to manage conflict and resistance to create more effective solutions and build better relationships.

Session Focus: Cultural Competency

Learn to lead in diverse organizations and communities, and how to manage the challenges of diversity to find more creative solutions to problems.

Performance Coaching

Each fellow will be matched with a coach. Coaches are current or retired executives and senior-level professionals in community development or planning. Coaching takes place in the last three months of the program.

A graduation ceremony will be held after the coaching period. Fellows must successfully complete at least five of the six training sessionscoaching to receive a Certificate of Completion.
