On December 8, 2005 in Trenton, members of the public will have their chance to speak out on the employment transportation needs of people with disabilities in New Jersey. This public event is part of New Jersey's weeklong United We Ride events.

December 5 & 6: United We Ride—Moving Forward on Coordinating Human Services and Community Transportation in New Jersey
Two Full-day Transportation Workshops
These two sessions (to be held at southern and northern NJ locations) will focus on discussing coordinated transportation planning efforts with an audience of transportation providers and funders.

December 8 & 9: Meeting the Employment Transportation Needs of People With Disabilities in New Jersey
A Two-day Transportation Summit
These two sessions will focus on presenting and discussing recommendations from the “Meeting the Employment Transportation Needs of People with Disabilities in New Jersey,” a five-year action plan prepared by the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center for the Division of Disability Services. Discussion at the December 8 session will be targeted toward a consumer audience; the December 9 session will focus on New Jersey’s legislative community.

December 6 for transportation providers and funding agencies from north Jersey

A one-day workshop held on consecutive days to kick-off New Jersey’s renewed efforts to coordinate trans-portation services in a more efficient way that better serves the consumer. This workshop is being funded with a Federal Transit Administration United We Ride grant.
The goal is to bring together stakeholders—specifically those entities responsible for providing and/or fund-ing local transportation services for seniors, people with disabilities, rural residents, transportation disad-vantaged and community supported transportation to discuss how to start the process to better coordinate services in New Jersey.
The day will include presentations and discussions on a variety of topics including technology, cost allocation, service eligibility, and brokerages for transportation as well as breakout sessions to develop strategies to move coordination forward.
